Does the Astro Max come with batteries?

No — SL8-Air batteries and the SL8 Fast Charger are sold separately. Freefly recommends 4 SL8-Air batteries (157Wh, 6S each) and 2 SL8 Fast Chargers for continuous field operations. Each battery takes approximately 90 minutes to charge from empty.

Is this Astro Max NDAA compliant?

The standard Astro Max is not NDAA/DIU Blue compliant because it ships with a Herelink 1.1 radio link, which is not NDAA-approved. A separate NDAA/Blue UAS version (with Doodle Labs 2.4 GHz radio) is available for government, defense, and public safety programs where NDAA compliance is required.

What sensors and payloads work with the Astro Max?

The Astro Max supports the Freefly LR1 (61MP Sony RGB), LR1 Thermal Upgrade, Freefly Flux L1/O1/H1 LiDAR, Sentera 65R, Sentera 6X Multispectral/Thermal, Freefly Wiris Pro, Ventus OGI gas imaging, and Emesent Hovermap ST-X. The Smart Dovetail interface specs are open for custom payload integrations.

Can the Astro Max fly autonomous missions?

Yes. Auterion Enterprise PX4 on the Freefly Skynode flight controller supports fully automated waypoint missions, Return to Land, altitude hold, and position hold. Mission planning is handled via Auterion Mission Control, and fleet telemetry is available through Auterion Suite. The optional RTK Ground Station adds centimeter-level precision for survey-grade results.
