Freefly Systems · USA-Made Heavy-Lift Platform
Freefly Alta X & Pilot Pro
The world’s most capable folding heavy-lift drone. Carry up to 35 lbs of cinema, inspection, or sensor payload — in a system that folds for travel and flies up to 50 minutes.
Heavy-Lift. Hollywood-Proven. USA-Built.
Freefly designed the Alta X from the ground up around one mission: carry the most demanding payload with the most precise control possible. With 33” ActiveBlade propellers generating a 2:1 thrust-to-weight ratio at 35 lbs of payload, the Alta X handles the heaviest cinema rigs, largest LiDAR scanners, and most critical inspection sensors with room to spare — all on a platform that folds for airline travel and is NDAA compliant right out of the box. This 950-00150-01 bundle includes the Alta X airframe with F9P RTK GPS, Pilot Pro controller, and Alta X travel case — ready to fly the day it arrives.
35 lb Payload Capacity
With a maximum gross takeoff weight of 76.9 lbs and a 2:1 thrust-to-weight ratio at 35 lbs, the Alta X carries the heaviest cinema cameras (RED Helium, ARRI Alexa Mini), full-size LiDAR scanners, multispectral sensor arrays, and custom inspection payloads that no smaller drone can handle.
ActiveBlade Vibration Isolation
Freefly’s proprietary ActiveBlade propeller design reduces airframe vibration to 1/5th of conventional props. Lower vibration means cleaner sensor data, sharper camera footage, longer motor and bearing life, and better overall signal quality from onboard electronics.
Auterion Enterprise PX4
The Alta X runs Auterion Enterprise PX4 — the most trusted commercial autopilot in the industry. Full autonomous waypoint missions, Return to Land, precision loiter, altitude hold, and MAVSDK API access for custom integration with ground systems or onboard edge computers.
Folds for Travel
Push-button boom release folds the Alta X to 30% of its deployed size in seconds — no tools, no disassembly. Fits in the included travel case for airline check-in on commercial flights. Deploy anywhere in the world, mission-ready within minutes of arrival.
60+ mph Speed
A 3.5:1 thrust-to-weight ratio at zero payload gives the Alta X exceptional dynamic performance. Top speed exceeds 60 mph (95 km/h) with no payload, enabling rapid repositioning between inspection points, fast response on public safety missions, and dynamic aerial cinematography.
NDAA & Blue UAS Compliant
The Alta X is NDAA Section 848 compliant and DIU Blue UAS listed — the only 35 lb heavy-lift platform approved for federal, DOD, DOI, and public safety programs. Made entirely in the USA at Freefly’s Woodinville, WA facility, with no Chinese-manufactured critical components.
🎥 Cinema & Aerial Broadcast
The Alta X was designed around Hollywood’s most demanding cameras. The ActiveBlade system eliminates vibration artifacts on RED, ARRI, Sony Venice, and large-format cinema lenses. Trusted on feature films, commercials, and live broadcast events worldwide where image quality is non-negotiable.
⚡ Infrastructure Inspection
Carry full-size zoom cameras, thermal sensors, and ultrasonic testing equipment on a single platform. The Alta X’s precision loiter, centimeter RTK positioning, and 60+ mph repositioning speed make it ideal for towers, transmission lines, pipelines, bridges, and wind turbine inspection programs.
📡 LiDAR & Sensor Integration
Mount the heaviest commercial LiDAR systems — including the Freefly Flux, Velodyne HDL-32, Riegl MiniVUX, or YellowScan Surveyor — and fly up to 50 minutes at zero payload or 20+ minutes at typical LiDAR weights. ActiveBlade vibration reduction improves point cloud density and accuracy.
🚑 Public Safety & Search & Rescue
NDAA compliance and Blue UAS listing make the Alta X the go-to heavy-lift platform for government, DOD, and first responder agencies. Carry thermal cameras, communication relays, emergency supply drops, or loudspeaker systems on a platform that deploys from a travel case in under 10 minutes.
🔬 Scientific Research
Universities, government research agencies, and environmental monitoring organizations use the Alta X to carry multi-sensor arrays, gas analyzers, hyperspectral imagers, and atmospheric sampling equipment. The MAVSDK API enables custom software integration for specialized research workflows.
📦 Cargo & Logistics
With 35 lbs of payload capacity and fully autonomous waypoint flight, the Alta X handles last-mile cargo delivery, remote site resupply, and medical supply transport for programs that require a proven, NDAA-compliant platform rather than consumer-grade delivery drones.
⚠️ Batteries, charger, landing gear, and payload vibration isolator are NOT included and must be purchased separately. Contact us for recommendations based on your specific payload and mission requirements.
What does the Alta X + Pilot Pro bundle include?
